Editorial and Corrections Policy

1. Who We Are and What We Do

Psiconáutica.org is an independent, non-profit educational project active since 1996, dedicated to the study of altered states of consciousness, ethnobotany, psychopharmacology, and psychoactive drug culture. Its editor-in-chief is Raúl del Pino (more about us).

2. Editorial Principles

  • Rigor: We verify information against primary sources (scientific studies, regulatory bodies, academic publications) whenever possible, citing and linking to them.
  • No advocacy: We do not promote the use of any substance. We report on their history, pharmacology, culture, and risks through a harm reduction lens.
  • Independence: We do not accept advertising or third-party sponsorships that compromise our content. There are no ads on the site.
  • Clarity: We write with clarity so that any reader can understand complex topics without sacrificing precision.
  • Health: No content is a substitute for professional medical advice. Health-related articles include a disclosure reminding readers of this and, where applicable, verified citations.

3. How We Produce Content

The site features three distinct, clearly identifiable types of content:

  • Historical archive: Articles published over nearly three decades by attributed authors. These are preserved as historical records; when restored or corrected for typos, the author’s original voice is preserved.
  • News and current events: Stories in the News section, bylined by the “Psiconáutica Editorial Team,” developed from verified primary sources (scientific journals, regulatory agencies, reputable press outlets), which are cited and linked in every piece.
  • Educational essays: Thematic articles developed from our archive and cited literature.

Transparency on AI tools: In drafting and editing some recent content (archive proofreading, source documentation, and news reporting), we utilize artificial intelligence tools under human editorial supervision. Every piece produced this way cites its sources, which are verified prior to publication. Editorial responsibility ultimately rests with the human editor.

4. Corrections

If we discover—or a reader alerts us to—a substantive error in our content, we correct it as promptly as possible. If the error impacts the meaning of the piece, we append an explicit correction note. To report an error, email raul@psiconautica.org with the article URL and details of the error.

5. Images

Images come from open-access media repositories (public domain or Creative Commons licenses), credited accordingly, or from archive authors. If you believe an image infringes on copyright, contact us and we will review it.

6. Restricted Content and Adult Audience

This site is intended exclusively for audiences aged 18 and older. Archival technical documents on chemistry are restricted to registered users as an added measure of editorial responsibility.
